Save Our Libraries
we need public support to Save Southampton Libraries

Welcome to Save Our Libraries Southampton website. Southampton's Libraries are under threat from the Southampton Labour Party.

They have indicated that they will cut hundreds of jobs at Southampton City Council if they win next years local elections - Labour leader Richard Williams himself mentioned up to 1500 job losses!

This will mean our Libraries will be inevitably axed.

We can't let this happen and on behalf of everyone who uses these vital services and those that provide them we have instigated this campaign to show the strength of support against closing any Libraries down in Southampton!

A QUOTE FROM A NATIONAL NEWSPAPER ARTICLE IN RESPONSE TO MANCHESTER COUNCILS CUTS

Critics say there are many areas of non-vital spending which should be axed before such useful services.

They are convinced the Labour-dominated council has chosen to make cuts in the most sensitive services as an act of political sabotage to embarrass the Coalition, which it hopes will be blamed for the debacle. (Never mind that it was in fact Labour’s manic spending, nationally, which made the cuts necessary in the first place).

Labour leader, Sir Richard Leese, has even authorised spending money on a poster campaign to blame central government, arguing ‘the message we will put out is that the reason we are having to make these decisions is because of central government cuts’.
